In my opinion, the photo above does not depict a 66-year-old woman. It’s meant to be age-progressed, but it is unclear what age they aimed for. I found the following photo of her at a South Dakota clearinghouse website for missing persons.

Date of Last Contact: December 4, 2001 (Tuesday)
Missing From: Sturgis, South Dakota, but last contact or last location appears to have been from Rapid City, South Dakota
County: Meade County
Missing Age: 41
Current Age: 66
DOB: If she was 41 the day she disappeared, then she must have been born between December 5, 1959, and December 4, 1960.
Circumstances According to NamUs
Linda’s family reported that she was last known to be in Sturgis, South Dakota. However, documentation received during the investigation indicates that her last known contact was in Rapid City, South Dakota, in December 2001.

Linda Grover’s disappearance is a case that was added to NamUs in August 2026, creating a 25-year gap between her disappearance and the case being uploaded to NamUs. There are some contradictions regarding how agencies have represented the facts regarding this case that readers should be aware of.
Firstly, her disappearance date is in 2001 according to NamUs. However, another government source states that she went missing in August 1999 when she was 39 years old. That source is below, which is a .gov site within South Dakota. That source also includes what appears to be a more contemporaneous picture of Linda.

It’s quite possible that NamUs is wrong, as that is a website source that has errors. Her disappearance date does need to be clarified. If she is among the Jane Does, the date of her disappearance vs. a Jane Doe’s discovery date is important. For example, using 2001 as her disappearance year, no one would be comparing her to 1999 or 2000 Jane Does — and they should not be if 2001 is her correct disappearance year.
I think her mother might have been named Rose Trena Four Horns Grover. I found an obituary for that individual, naming Linda Grover as a surviving daughter as of February 2001. In my opinion, that would suggest that the 2001 disappearance date is more likely to be accurate. However, these are supporting statements, not authentications. It’s possible that the Linda Grover mentioned as a survivor in this obituary is a different person. Yet, the names “Four Horns” and “Grover” both appear, which are names/aliases in Linda Grover’s profile. Furthermore, the individuals are all clustered around the relevant area of South Dakota.

I think this is a case that opens up if family members post more case details alongside common search terms.
